Sky Betting And Gaming Puts Acquisition At The Core
Birmingham-based Orbis Partners have advised on the sale of gaming developer CORE Gaming to Sky Betting and Gaming who are backed by CVC Capital Partners and Sky plc.
CORE Gaming is a content studio that specialises in the development of HTML5 real money games to casino operators and platform holders. Based in Birmingham, CORE Gaming’s catalogue consists of a wide range of games, including slots, scratch cards, instant win and table games.
The deal sees the exit of seasoned investor Steve Murray whilst Managing Director Justin Chamberlain and his management team will remain with the business and continue in their current capacity.
“Given the already close relationship between CORE and Sky Betting & Gaming, there is a natural strategic rationale for the deal. We are delighted to have worked so closely with the shareholders in order to deliver a deal which works well for all involved, and we look forward to seeing CORE continue its development under new ownership.”
Simon Lloydbottom, Associate Director
“Sky Betting & Gaming was formed in 2001 and has since grown to become one of the UK’s leading online bookmakers, with a team of 100 employees and a strong track record of innovation. In 2015 Sky Betting and Gaming became an independent company following the sale of its majority share by its parent company Sky to CVC Capital Partners.”
Steve Murray, Investor
“Having worked in the sector alongside Orbis for a number of years I was confident of their ability to run an effective process which would maximise value for the shareholders. Their hard working approach and ability to quickly problem solve has ensured a great outcome.”
