Clairfield advises Pieter Smit Group on UK expansion through the acquisition of MM Band Services

Clairfield has advised Netherlands-based Pieter Smit Group on its expansion in the UK through the acquisition of MM Band Services Limited, a UK-based artist and crew transport specialist. The transaction establishes a UK hub for the leading European logistics organisation.

With the acquisition, Pieter Smit Group will expand its Nightliner tour bus fleet by two dozen and establish a strategic hub in the UK. The MM Band Services team and brand will continue to operate, with managing director Mike Moulds staying on board.

Pieter Smit is aiming to create a seamless touring infrastructure package for clients, spanning freight, staging transport, backline logistics, and artist/crew travel across a unified network.

Both fleets are optimised for eco-friendly operations, combining HVO-ready Nightliners with Pieter Smit’s ongoing transition toward emission-free transport solutions.

“This step is a natural continuation of how we have always approached our business: staying close to our clients and adapting to the realities of international touring,” says Louise Smit, Pieter Smit CEO.

“Since Brexit, operating between the UK and Europe has become more complex. While we already had a strong Nightliner offering, the addition of MM Band Services significantly expands our capacity, allowing us to offer greater flexibility and more reliable support across both regions.”

Pieter Smit’s CFO/COO, Jeffrey Ringenier, adds:

This acquisition is about positioning. International tours increasingly move between the UK and mainland Europe. With MM, we now have the right structure in place.

The Group was founded in 1980 and scaled to become Europe’s premier entertainment logistics provider, operating across hubs in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Poland and Portugal.

Gary Ecob, Senior Partner at Clairfield UK, commented:

“We are delighted to have supported Pieter Smit Group on this important UK acquisition. The acquisition of MM Band Services aligns seamlessly with the Pieter Smit Group’s strategic vision to offer integrated, end-to-end solutions for the live entertainment industry. This transaction reinforces Clairfield’s crossborder capabilities by collaborating closely with our Dutch partners.”

The Clairfield team acted as exclusive financial adviser to Pieter Smit Group and comprised Gary Ecob, Senior Partner (UK), Liam Hadfield, Associate Director (UK), and Rob Speek, Partner (Netherlands).
